When I first started out in floristry - after re-training and going through college, I launched myself haphazardly into the world of running a floristry business, and nearly fell on my face several times! I lurched around from client to client, saying yes to everything, not really knowing what direction I was going in, and just thinking that if I just kept ‘showing up’ and ‘doing the work’ it would all be ok. How hard could it be?
I ended up pretty burnt out, exhausted and feeling that I still wasn’t really achieving what I wanted. It took me some time to realise that I had abandoned everything I had learnt from my previous corporate career in marketing, and had not even considered applying the same basic marketing principles to a small floristry business! Umm?? Big mistake!
In truth, even without the big budgets of the corporate world - the basic principles of branding, messaging, tone of voice and reaching out to the right audience - were EXACTLY the same. The answer was staring me right in the face, and I had all the skills and knowledge to apply it.
My business turned a huge corner, and now I can help yours do the same.
